Bakery Blog

I started a little blog for the bakery, to get business and to keep people updated.

making butter

Elizabeth and I have been making butter at home and salting it with fancy salt from the salt store. This was made from Strauss Family Creamery Cream and Maldon Salt.

Vancouver Shadows

Remember that little trip I took, finally got around to editing some of the images this afternoon.
The weather was lovely in Brooklyn today, people in all colors and shapes walking down Bedford Ave with smiles on their face.

Any thoughts? This is a part of a larger series I started on this trip & part of an even bigger series I have been shooting since.

What I Just Ate: The Poached Egg Burger

Hello Family,
I am back after some absence, my apologizes been a bit of a hectic month for me.
Hope everyone is doing well in their respected endeavors.

Anyhow I just enjoy this fine delectable treat for dinner:


From bottom to to:
Bottom of English Muffin
Lettuce
85% Lean Organic Grass-fed Beef Burger w/ Mustard & Chili Powder Infused
Smoked Cheddar
Bacon
More Lettuce
Poached Egg
Top of English Muffin w/ tad of Ranch

Ummmmmmmm
All was well but extremely hard to eat & somewhat messy.
I think it was a bit too many flavors, this is a problem of mine, I'm working on it.

Anyhow off to watch, 71 Fragments of Chronology of Chance by Michael Haneke. He is a austrian director who made another great yet disturbing film called Hidden/Cache I saw and Andreas just wrote a blog post about him we plan to publish later this week. Also check out Funny Games, a movie he has just remade & reshot shot for shot and scene for scene but in America. Looks to be an interesting remake.

Well I'm off to that, hope to be posting more and hearing more from all.

Where is everybody?

So is everyone so busy? No time to blog anymore? Well l I have a minutes so I'll update you guys on my life.
1. I got the account at Blend cafe in Portland, so I am making bluebery muffins, trail mix muffins, chocolate chip cookies and trail mix cookies 3 time a week for the cafe. It is exhausting, but fun. I have some great moments when I'm in the kitchen alone when it hits me and then I feel pretty excited about the state of thimgs, even if I'm working 12 hour days!
2. I got inspected by the health inspector and have my own offical liscence to make food!
3. I have a busness bank account with $68 in it
4. I have spent a lot of money in 3 days getting ready for the health inspector and buying supplies and paying for my license (thank you grandpa!)
5. (I need grandpa's address, I have an outdated thank you note for him)
6. I need an accounting program/plan - any ideas

I'm exhausted and need to muster the strength to make some dinner so I'm gunna go but I'll leave you with some hawaii pictures where I learned how to open a fresh coconut on a pickax!

Baking Baking Baking Day & Night


So as you all know things in the baking area of my life are picking up, and I had my first meeting with a cafe yesterday. Luckily I was with Morgan (Dovetail Bakery/friend/employer) so she could answer questions that I hadn't even thought of yet. In the last 24 hours I had been baking for 18 or more hours with a brief break for sleep, in preperation for this meeting. It went well, she really liked the trail mix cookies, the chocolate chip cookies, the tarte tatin, and the maple carrot cake,and the madeleienes. She even sent a follow up email expressing how surprised she was that the vegan goods tasted so good and that she wouldn't have even known they were vegan. Quite a compliment.
Now I'm in the "oh shit what have I done" phase. If she likes them enough to order some my life is gunna get crazier then it already is.
